Kyrene de la Paloma Program Design
2027-28 School Year and Beyond
We are a premier neighborhood school at Kyrene de la Paloma that unites the strengths of our Traditional and Arts Integration Academies, dedicated to the Kyrene Promise and fostering the Portrait of a Kyrene Kid.

A New Iteration, that ...
-
Focuses on academic rigor
-
Provides personalized learning experiences
- Creates a responsive learning environment by providing advanced options for all students
- Utilizes school-wide AVID implementation
The Vision: People choose Kyrene de la Paloma because it is a premier neighborhood school, encompassing the southeast corner of the Kyrene district, that focuses on the Kyrene Promise and the Portrait of a Kyrene Kid.
We Value: community, positivity, inclusive relationships, collaboration, and rigorous academic and behavioral expectations.
Instructional Approach
Programmatically, the new iteration of Kyrene de la Paloma will continue to use the curriculum used at all Kyrene schools (following our curriculum guides), just as KTA and Paloma are using today. The flexibility is built into supplemental materials, instructional strategies, and the other classroom decisions that teachers make when practicing their craft.
Staff from any school can use the strategies and strengths they bring to our new space. There is flexibility as long as it is aligned with state standards, Kyrene curriculum, and supports the Kyrene Promise and the Portrait of a Kyrene Kid.
Academic Rigor
To be a premier neighborhood school, which keeps the Kyrene Promise and develops what is represented in the Portrait of the Kyrene Kid, all instructional programming at Paloma must include academic rigor. Rigor is defined as depth over coverage, where students construct understanding rather than just receive information, including:
- Questioning and Discourse
- Productive Struggle
- Text Complexity and Evidence-Based Response
- High Expectations for All—ALL MEANS ALL!
